Just as a suggestion, how about Bolderwood / Mark Ash Wood ?
It's a beautiful part of the forest at that time of year - stunning autumn colour, and the deer sanctuary is right by for the furry animals.

Stubill, good idea; bound to be something worthwhile to photograph furry or otherwise and the car park at Bolderwood is a good place to meet up!

If the weather's promising I'd like to join the group on this meet. Bratley View is a great place to start and is one of my favourite areas of the Forest. The pond is a little short of water at the moment but there are still interesting things to photograph there. The lone tree always looks good in sunlight.

If you head on from the pond at Mogshade over towards the A31 underpass, there is one of the best views for a misty sunrise IMO too. That's if you get the mist of course Smile
Bratley view is only a few hundred yards from Bolderwood and Mark Ash Wood too.

Matt is right we ought to be chatting here rather than on the forum thread now as we are unlikely to get many more punters at this late stage!

I'm up for sun rise (so yes please Geoff Wink) if it does turn out to be foul weather later in the day there are pubs in Burley which is not far away. I'm sure The Queen's Legs will be open......(whoops that should read Arms Wink) and only too glad to accommodate a dozen toggers!

We got lost........ ruddy map was no good, even when we retraced our journey back to the A31!! However, we got there, but were too late for the bacon butties as Geoff had gone (by only a few minutes by all accounts). But my friend and I still had a good few hours in the company of some great guys. Although we did spot quite a number of 'shrooms', most were not in very good nick. We also saw some of the deer in the sanctuary area, which was rather lovely. Thanks for your company guys - and I look forward to meeting up again.

Thanks to everyone who attended especially for those that travelled far to come.

It was great to see you all. We will have to arrange another one soon.

A special thank you must go out to Geoff for arranging and cooking the bacon butties. Cheers.
