I`ve never seen the M4/3 lens line up looking so healthy, out of this list what three primes would you pick for your bag, it has to be one short, one medium and one long, its as if you were getting a rangefinder ![]()
Panasonic 8mm f3.5
Olympus 12mm f2.0
Hyperprime 12mm f/1.6
Panasonic 14mm f2.5
Olympus 15mm f8
Olympus 17mm f2.8
Olympus 17mm f1.8
Voigtländer 17.5mm F0.95
Sigma 19mm f2.8
Panasonic 20mm f1.7
Panasonic 25mm f1.4
Voigtländer 25mm F0.95
Sigma 30mm f2.8
Panasonic 45mm f2.8 (macro)
Olympus 45mm f1.8
Olympus 60mm f2.8 (macro)
Olympus 75mm f1.8
Forgot to add the 8mm Walimart/falcon/samyang (same lens, different names)
And I`ve left out the creative fun lenses, C type and Lensbabys.
Yes the C lenses can be fun, SLR Magic who make the Noktor 12mm Hyperprime sell a few C Lenses as well.
I`ve often thought of getting the Samyang/falcon/walimart 8mm but I don`t really want all my wide shots to be this wide.
Hope you get that body sorted quickly Mike.
Personally, I would go for the olympus 12, sigma 30mm (I own one and i love it!) and the olympus 45mm. I would like to include the Samyang 7.5mm but it wouldnt get the use ![]()
(Body scheduled for tomorrow Paul but by the time I get home, I'll have to pick it up from the PO Collection Office after work
)
I already use the 19mm Sigma and love mine, and I have the 45mm as well.
I`d really like the Oly 12mm at some point, but I will probably end up with the 14mm, its a lot cheaper ![]()

That`s the one, I`d been calling it the 8mm ![]()
Good luck with collecting it Mike, ours closes at 2pm.
1. The size, for me the pancake felt to small on the OMD and G2 and balances better, I`d probably quite like the 20mm on a GF series or EPM1 or 2.
2. Price, fantastic value for money.

I don't know anything about your lenses you list but on a 24x36mm sensor I like the 20, 35 & 85mm prime lenses when I am in a prime mood.
Peter
My first film SLR had, 28mm, 50mm and 135mm, and I quite liked that lot so would probably look to replicate, with hopefully the longer lens having a macro capability, but I would be tempted to go for a slightly wider wide lens.
Panasonic 14mm f2.5 or Olympus 12mm f2.0
Panasonic 25mm f1.4 or Panasonic 20mm f1.7
Olympus 60mm f2.8 (macro)
Sadly I have no idea if they are good lenses. I might swap the 25mm for the panasonic 20mm as Ihave heard good reviews for it.

Something I bang on about. Nearly every time lenses are discussed, it is about sharpness. I think that feel comes into it, for me probably before anything else.
I have to like using something otherwise it stays in the bag. My current favourite is the Olympus 45mm f1.8, a real sweetie - I couldn't hide my enthusiasm for it here

My base working outfit as a news photographer was 2 Nikon bodies 24, 35, 85, 180. Covered most eventualities.
I never liked 50mm on 35mm cameras much, neither fish nor foul. I have the 25mm f1.4 Panasonic, great lens except....I hardly ever use it, preferring the 20mm. eBay time, I guess!

Yes I tried both the Panasonic Pancakes, the 20 and the 14 and they were just to small on the OMD, my biggest complaint about the OMD was its handling, it was too small in the hand, the bigger lens helped here but this was all before I bought the grip.
As sharpness goes I don`t think there a great deal of difference between the two, the Pany might be a stop faster and its twice the price of the Sigma, bit its certainly not twice as good ![]()
Yes thats a good review of the 45mm.

Simular to what I carried, we never used zooms, guess that new Olympus 75mm could be quite useful.

17mm f1.8
45mm f1.8
My 12-50 covers all three of these focal lengths, but I still want the primes ![]()

Yes I had a 135, I later sold it and replaced it with a zuiko 100mm, and a zuiko 180mm, and I ended up missing the 135 ![]()

I`m sure a few on here might be interested, bung it in the classifieds.
