Downloaded 'The Photographer Ephemeris' app today (£5.49). I think it will come in handy, especially if am going somewhere I’ve not visited before, it’s a map based app that allows you to see the direction and time of sunset/sunrise & moonrise/moonset.
I think Lightrac is £2.99 for more or less the same sort of thing as The Photographers Ephemeris in Apple Apps Store ... ![]()
I have google sky on my android phone. (oops just noticed this is an iphone forum. I'm heading for door before I get burned...)
This will point you directly towards, quite literally, many celestial events at any time you choose ![]()

I found it quite handy when I was in The Lakes for a week - no wifi but I could still use TPE on a 3G link for iPhone.
I was also planning a shoot yesterday in a bored moment in the doctors surgery yesterday.
For £5.50 its hardly worth not having.
