At 10fps this puts a different view on this camera.
When I buy this I may sell my A77 after all.

Sadly the price tag may be too high for my boss to buy for me (25 years working for him) - I think I'll settle for the A65 or A77 instead (plus a Triggersmart system).....

A99 with102 AF point AF (11 cross).
Dual Phase detection system (with AF phase pixels on sensor)
With 10FPS should blow all else out of the water.

Sony where's mine?

Which I bet is going to be a similar amount in sterling and I reckon I can only persuade him to part with about 1,500 if I'm lucky - I'll be grateful for what I can get - either will be a fairly big step up from the A350 Smile

My journey was A350, A700, A850, A77
The A77 is brilliant and for 900 or 700 from Hong Kong. is the best value camera by far.

2800? No way Pedro! To rich for my pension, I'll have to squeeze out an A65 or A77 at a push, unless I win the Lottery. Sad

Sony have more than enough lenses.

Most of my friends use Canon. The lenses some of them own are:
500 F4 Sony also
100-400 Sony 70-400 new grey to replace silver out soon.
70-200 mk 2 Sony 70-200 mk 2 due out soon
100mm macro Sony 100mm 2.8 macro
300mm 2.8 Sony 300 2.8 G

I could fill the page. With the above Sony plus 28-75mm 2.8 or 24-70mm 2.8 zeiss
16-35 2.8 zeiss or DT 16-50 2.8 Sam

How many lenses do people need? Apart from 70-400 All my Sony lenses are 2.8, When the 70-200 mk 2 comes out I will look at it. Otherwise I have no wish list.
In the past I have had Minolta lenses. Sony have covered most of these. a few weeks ago I used a Minolta 80-200 2.8. rather old. The Sony 70-200 feels balanced and less motor noise.
A Minolto 200mm 2.8 prime went for just over 500 on e-bay a few weeks ago.

I have the advantage of borrowing any lens from Sony, but never found it necessary to take them up on it for any length of time.
As a foot note the build quality for Canon lenses is inconsistent, I have friends with excellent 100-400 and some with bad ones.
not surprised when canon have sold over 11 million lenses.

Especially fortunate if you want to use the 500mm f4.

My local camera shop has it listed as " build to order" with a cost of 12,499 ! !

Not much use for it at the moment.

I Spoke to a guy in Europe yesterday who has been playing with the A99.
He confirms it's 24mp 10FPS Better IQ than the A77 Fast & accurate focusing. Good for In-flight.
2,800 Euros. Two of my Canon user friends are considering changing to Sony.
I hope to have one by the end of this month.

Now that you have your Sony A99, please let us know your thoughts here Alan. I saw some sample photos that were shot at ISO 3200, and I couldn't believe my eyes! They looked better (less noisy) than photos from an A77 shot at ISO 800. It didn't seem possible. Have you found that you can shoot at ISO 3200 with acceptable results? If so, how does ISO 6400 look? Oh, and I have a question about the differences between the 24-70mm f2.8 Zeiss lens and the 28-75mm f2.8 Sony lens (which looks to be based on the Tamron design). Which is better? Is there a significant difference, or is it worthwhile buying the Sony 28-75mm f2.8 to save weight and money?

Hi. I have an a200 and an a57. I love them both! I have a small selection of lenses and am an enthusiastic amateur.

Hi Broke, welcome!

All I have to say is I hope Sony starts making more weather sealed lenses. Canon's L range has so many great, weather-sealed lenses, and Sony has really dropped the ball by introducing a bunch of lenses that do not have weather seals, even though they have had the A900 out there for years now. I think that's a shame. I like the fact that Sony's new 70-400mm is lighter and less expensive than the new Nikon, but does it have weather seals? I sure hope so. If it does, it has another advantage over that Nikon.
