Afternoon Tea at Salute to the 40s'
Site info..."Enjoy a little bit of naughty extravagance for the Ration Book years of the 1940s with a sumptuous afternoon tea in Commissioners House, the oldest naval building to survive intact in Britain today. Elegant sandwiches accompanied by mouth-watering cakes and scones freshly made in the Commissioners House kitchen served with preserves, cream and a pot of tea".
We also thought that this would be a great idea - It has to be pre-booked and is priced seperately at £7.95. You have your own time allocated for tea, the suggestion was 3.30pm... still time for more photo's before the end of the day! Jeff/JJGEE has very kindly agreed to organise this as he already has the seperate contact/details.

Hi everyone,
I'm now back in Kent and I made a visit to the venue today - I bought an extra ticket but it lasts for 12 months and I had an enjoyable morning. I did ask if there where any leaflets/flyers I could have re an itinerary/times for the entertainment but none was forthcoming!
Plenty of free parking and I suggest we meet at 9.30am outside the entrance. Don't forget if using a sat/nav, insert the postcode ME4 4TY and use your Satellite Navigation system in conjunction with the brown tourist signs to find the visitor car park and entrance to The Historic Dockyard Chatham.
NB: When referring to "brown tourist signs", this refers to both brown anchor signs and brown signs with the words "The Historic Dockyard" Lol I still got lost but don't worry that happens to me all the time ![]()
A recap of who's attending:
Me
Julie
Jeff
Graham

Any one else wishing to join us would be made very welcome... honest ![]()

Pm me if you would like my mobile number and I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!
Hi folks,
Please accept my apologies but I am going to have to take a rain check on tomorrows meet. Unfortunately last evening I had a severe pain in my lower left arm and aching like blazes took a couple of ibuprofen and it sorted it out after a few hours but have had a similiar feeling today in my right arm so think it best to stop at home and hope for the best.
I hope that the weather is in your favour and that you all have an enjoyable day, safe journey,
Rob.

So it is a season ticket and you can visit as many times as you like in that year ![]()
As you know I popped in a few weeks back to enquire about the afternoon tea and thought the same as you Sarah.... worth going back with my camera & tripod for a longer visit sometime.
All being well, see you all in the morning
Jeff
Quote: Rob, aw sorry to hear that you've not been feeling to good! No worries re the meet, it's far more important that you rest and feel better soon, there will always be another time! Thanks for letting us know, take care and look after yourself!

Many thanks for your thought's. I had a triple and jump bypass in '92 I'm hoping that it is not starting to play up, time will tell. Have a great time,
Rob x
Thank you Sarah for setting this up.
We know you have had a somewhat stressful time recently so I hope, and everyone else presumably, you managed to have a good day out as well.
What a fantastic day out, the weather held until driving home when there was such incredibly scenes on the A2 / M25 but I could not stop to take a photograph.
The sky was orange, mauve, pink and the rain was backlit by thegolden sun, quite dangerous but everyone was sensible and slowed down to about 10mph ! !
Just about to have a quick look at my shots, but the first episode of last series of Spooks starts at 21:00 so will probably not upload tonight.
Jeff
Thank you all for turning up and for making such an enjoyable day, I had a great time - hope you all did too! Jeff, tea was delicious, a perfect end to the day!
Jude it was lovely to meet you, hope to see you again soon - I won't be able to walk past a phone-box now without having a little giggle to myself

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's images from the day!

Feeling somewhat lazy after a long, enjoyable day.
Wow,
What a great set of shots you all got shown both here & in the "other" place... and not seen anything form Sonia just yet, hope I have not missed them ! !
This must be one of the best trips out for "variety" of images captured.
Whilst, Brighton, Isle Of Wight, Hastings etc. are all good days out
perhaps we should consider some of these "event" type meets again next year.
I enjoyed the two this year, namely the South Of England Show and Salute To The 40's
Just a thought ![]()
