Hmm been a long while since I used any of the automated modes and having a play and trying them out, I`m getting no noise or artifacts (thats what they really are) at all.
Could be that I have proper camera profiles set up rather than adobes own.

I wanted to set my file size to 1:1 yesterday - but found to do that I had to also set image quality to RAW+jpeg. I only use RAW normally.
What I can't figure out is why can't you just have RAW 1:1? I don't want to have the SD card littered with jpegs.
Just to compare, this is a section of a shot taken using your settings Paul. You can clearly see the difference between the unaltered RAW file and the JPEG file. The RAW file is really bad. I think I'm just going to use jpeg on this camera. Bit fed up. I've taken some others using the EXR mode (which doesn't seem to record RAWS anyway), and they're OK.
What ISO are these shots Chris ?
What software are you using for your Raws Andrew, I find lightroom just fine but I know some people have problems.

The Raw does look pretty bad Chris, what profiles do you use, your own or Adobes.
I'm only using ISO400. I tried your settings Paul.
Don't know about profiles. Am I missing something?
Yes there setting for in camera, not for PS or LR.
Don't understand. I set them for in camera.

I use Photoshop but there's no problem with the RAWs - it's that you can't set the camera to shoot 1:1 RAW only you have to have RAW and pointless jpegs. I don't get why.
Hmm maybe this could get addressed in a firmware update, I lost count of the number the original x100 got, think it was 20 +
Is that 1:1 the crop format Andrew, if it is I think Fuji preserve the original aspect ratio in its Raw file.

Sorry Chris I forgot to say that most settings used in camera only effect the Jpegs, but there should`nt be any problems using 400 ISO

That makes sense. I guess that's what it is.
I should imagine you getting pretty good jpegs out of that camera anyway, handy for the B&W and film modes.
Yep I am enjoying using it - very different to the D700. I haven't really used the BW mode, but the film simulations are fun. I'm looking forward to having some leave so I can really start to play with it properly.
Do any of you know they safe trigger voltage for these camera`s, I understand its above average but its best to make sure.
Tried out the flash on the X10. I was quite impressed, once I'd remembered that the flash won't fire if the camera's in silent mode. There, it's worth reading all the forums just to pick up little tips like that. I'd never have thought of it if I hadn't read this thread.
