Ok not grumpy as such but why is it when the sky is blue, the sun is shining and basically it's lovely out there - does the first person you speak to on entering the office say "oh it's not going to last - it's going to be horrible this afternoon"? Why not live in the moment sometimes and enjoy the here and now?
Admittedly I'd rather not be stuck in the office on a sunny day but that's tough

It's obvious your work colleagues know you are a photographer and obviously we like nice weather to out and get our little pictures. So, what better way to burst your photographic bubble, by in forming you that the weather later is going to be c**p! Fortunately, here on Tenerife where I live (Puerto Santiago) we had 1 day of rain from April 2011 to April 2012!!! Yes, you read it correct, 1 DAY.
So these party poopers have to find something else to try and burst our photographic bubble, with claims of, don't worry, the cloud will be gone by lunchtime, just leaving boring clear blue skies! So, as you are aware, clear blue skies are great for holiday snaps and holiday brochures and the like, but for us photographers, we like clouds to add a little impact to our images. So you see, even I have to put up with the imperfect weather! Keep on taking the strawberries!

Indeed people at work have zero appreciation of the visual - ie. they can look out of the window and not notice the wonderful cloud shapes or the way the sun is hitting an object or the shadows falling. I do sometimes wonder what they do see and they do miss out on a lot of wonderful sights, large or small.
The skies have been good for infra red this week - some great cloud shapes but sadly I've had too many errands to run during my lunch-breaks so getting to the park even for half an hour has not been possible - very frustrating.
I can even tolerate the rain as long as it's not persistent and there are a few breaks (but not enjoy it - and I certainly didn't enjoy getting wet feet on my way home last night).
There is a two day Medieval event on nearby this weekend - I'm hoping that it doesn't rain too much as the event is held in three fields and it will be horrible if they turn to mud - I'll find out on Saturday mornings....
Meanwhile I must buy more strawberries - I ate the last of them last night for dinner
Its such a Bristish thing to talk about the weather isn't it!! I take buses too and from work, and i never tire of hearing people complaining that its either to hot / cold / wet / dry!!!!
We are an adaptable lot, us photographers and am sure we can take pictures what ever the weather - so next time they say "oh - it will be cloudy this afternoon!" come back with "great stuff - love the diffused light cloud gives!" . . . . or "it will be raining later!" come back with "fantastic - need to practise some reflection shots!" . . . . you get the idea!!!!
Oh too right - talk about the weather non-stop and whatever it does it's not good enough. Admittedly I do hate it when it's slippery underfoot - I've landed on my backside too many times now and it's not fun
I'm sure if I tried to talk photography with any of them they'd just give me blank looks - I'm sure they go through life with blinkers on oblivious to everything apart from flipping Big Brother and spending time socialising. Maybe I'm doing them a disservice - I don't socialise and maybe watch about 3 hours a week tv so I could be missing out on all sorts of goodies

Ah - glad to hear that. I do confess to watching the likes of CSI, NCIS for a bit of brainless unwinding but tend to forget to look at the tv listings for anything more high brow - by the time I remember it's bedtime
We are in the middle of an obesity epidemic, so what do we get on TV?
Endless cookery programmes with 'celebrity' chefs/cooks creating bizarre concoctions with vast quantities of butter, cream, sugar, treacle and other lovely fattening ingredients.
It seems that every darned programme has to have a cookery slot.
How long before 'Noos at 10' has a section devoted to the presenter cooking his/her favourite meal?
Perhaps Paxo could have a slot where he creates custard pies to throw at MPs that don't answer his questions!

yeah, we have one of those. you could give him a wad of free money and he would say "thanks, sigh that'll soon be gone" in a flat depressed voice.
Every day you get to find something to enjoy is a great day To Quote "always look on the bright side of life
It'll raining tonight in London :-( but here is a race just outside the office door at 7pm and i have my camera and its still SUNNY now

The sun disappeared here a while ago but it's dry and warm so that'll do me.
Alas there is nothing interesting going on around here this evening so I'll be bumbling off home as usual and deciding what to amuse myself with Mind you the kitchen is a bomb site at the moment so that might require a small amount of my time!
Oh as for cooking programmes - as a non-foodie they're totally wasted on me
