Wah, poor birdie 
Still mycat does this too and I try to look the other way...........
+like the idea of the shot
+like the offset composition
+some spectral highlights in there work for me
-Kitty's face is overexposed,
-the bird looks like it's been dead for a while (eye is sunken) so I'm not convinced this just happened, and that seems important to me - the spontaneity thing.
-would have liked a simpler frame around it - it sort of overwhelms the image.

Nice detail in birds feathers
Like the bokeh effect with the cat, gives it a more sinister feel!
Birds tail is cropped out
writing on the frame bottom right
line going through bird and cat is a distraction
Don't mind the over exposure of the cat and is the birds eye closed? It looks like it to me.

Was defiantly a fresh kill, that leg was still twitching 
And yes the eye was closed.
