Experimental shot on a bridge in Leeds - was using bare, un-modded flash on a very high stand to create a down light effect - purposely creating a bright head and crisp shadows, like a street light does.
Also framing him with the blue lights on the bridge to give an over-all blue finish to the shot.
Apart from running an action to size and sharpen for web, this was pretty much un-edited.

I remember this one well from the gallery Ade.
+makes a lasting visual impact - I think if you remember an image, then the photographer got through to you on some level.
+good lighing
+like the diagonal lights and the way the subject is framed between them.
Now, the difficult part ![]()
- might have left a bit more room on the right side of the frame.
- the shades create a sharp shadow on the face, creating that little triangle that takes a bit too much of my attention.
- the two yellow spectral highlights and the orange light could be negatives but I'd have to see the image without them to be sure.

yeah - it's a taste thing really.
I've shot a lot of night strobist and you do end up with spectral light a lot "if" you're hand-holding the camera. (tripod means more ambient)
The alternative is black background - which to me, defeats the object of a location shoot. COuld just do that in a studio instead and be warm and have a lovely coffee to hand ![]()
I too remember this one Ade, a very impressive shot
+ Angle of the shot
+ The 2 blue shafts of light
+ The complimentary blue tones giving an overall cool feel to the image
- Shadows just a bit too harsh in areas: the left side of his face and neck is virtually pure black
- Likewise with the highlights. Forehead and top of hands getting close to burning out.
- The highlight on his ear
+ the leaning forward pose
+ the complementary bg giving a total effect
+ the use of the hands rather than a static pose
- blown out areas on the hands and face - but that was probably the look you wanted?
- the four blue spots need toning down a tad... personal taste, I know
- not sure about his shades...something smaller, ala John Lennon glasses, smaller and round.
+ The colour Blue (the models clothes)
+ The pose
+ The two shafts of blue light
- The orange areas
- The four blue spot lights (distracting)
- Blown out highlights on forehead and hands.
+ Dynamic cool lighting, love the contrasty strong lighting, strong shadows
+ The blue shafts of light, almost looks as if he`s stood on a stage
+ The pose and composition
- None really, maybe just an orange gelled flash bottom right, orange and blue generally work well together, but this is just a taste thing.
