One from Ade's Monday night taster session. We were being shown various lighting techniques / styles using a shoot through umbrella but this shot is bare flash held at arms length by Rocco.

+ Quite like the pose.
+ Kind of quite like the effect the harsh light has on the eyebrows and stubble.
+ Like the Dark background.
- The lighting is not very kind, especially the shadow of the Nose.
- Not keen on the Models right side of face being missing.
- Flash has been angled too much to Model's right and missed lighting half of the Jacket.
Overall I guess its a useful exercise to see the effects flash or lights have in various locations.
Doug.
Yes to all of the above Doug should have said that with a reflector and another light source on the left the shadow would have have all but disappeared.
+ Eyes are nice and sharp
+ Model is relaxed and posed well
+ Right side is well exposed
- Not a flattering shot that anyone would want a print of
- Too much black on the right for my tastes that needs his shoulder line
- The long shadow on the tee shirt
