This is another worisit? Probably for PamelaJean again, though I suspect that many other floral gurus will also know.
Spotted whilst out ~ by a riverside/meadow location.
It was in small isolated stands of the same plant, dotted about in a only a few locations
If anyone can enlighten me, I would greatly appreciate it. ![]()

Ahh. Thank you. I knew I could rely.......... ![]()
Much appreciated.
I have been in trouble from one commentator for failing to remove the dead stalk and leaf.
I hadn't noticed it until they mentioned it.
(which only goes to prove that I'm a picture taker, rather than a photographer ![]()
~ maybe one day
)
Himalayan Balsam, Jack, see it here.
I just used to know it as Wild Balsam, but "other common names are Policeman's Helmet, Bobby Tops, Copper Tops, and Gnome's Hatstand, which all originate from the flowers being decidedly hat-shaped. Himalayan Balsam and Kiss-me-on-the-mountain arise from the fact that the plant originates in the Himalayan mountains".
You've captured it perfectly for ID.
It's kind of you to think I might know it
!
Pamela.
PS: You can see Japanese Knotweed here for comparison. Just as invasive.
Pamela, you are wonderful. I do, very sincerely, hope that Sylvia is not offended.
Your WikipediA (link) article describes it perfectly (& in Latin too) in the location and conditions in which I found it.
Though, in this location, it certainly didn't seem to be prolific.
It merely stood out, amidst a sea of green undergrowth
A lovely pink flower: I thought rather like a snap-dragon.
You know that I'm a floral moron, but I know what I like, even if I don't know what it is ![]()

I did get into trouble from Phill (Grampy) for not disposing of the dead leaf and stalk before I took the shot.
(I only noticed the leaf and stalk after Phill had remonstrated ![]()

thank you ~ you're a star !!!
You are welcome, Jack.
A little bit of "gardening" prior to shooting can prove beneficial.
I have to agree, that dead stalk needed to go
.
Pamela.
