Brandywine and YellowJacket
There was talk of an apple butter party-- and maybe some crabapple jelly---made with these Brandywine crabapples---- but the YellowJackets have been very busy---
We will make the apple butter-----soon! lots of other apples!
May I offer you-all apologies---- I have been over whelmed--with all sorts of work and activities--- two days coming with nothing scheduled--- looking forward to looking at your images and so on.......

Super macro shot, Jenn, the YellowJacket tucking in to the fruit juices........I think this is what we call a wasp over here, and I doubt if I'd have ventured that close even with 180mm. as I've had some nasty stings off these blighters.
Wonderful detail and colours.
Ronnie.
what a fabulous capture..
apple butter ? pray tell
Apple butter? Sounds yummy, never come across it before. Nice bit of framing on that wazzie, Jenn.

My thoughts too Jenn, lovely comp,
Geoff.
We often see images of the wasp or a bee on flower heads but first time I have seen one on an apple and it's a great shot I like the different aspect
I think yellow jacket is a great name, and it's certainly enjoying your apple. Nice and sharp....the wasp, not the apple.
a great light and a fantstic composition.
And really, your wasps are some greedy sods! bet you have a job finding enough good apples now.
Do you use bottles with sugar-water to catch them!
Great macro shot Jenn, the pesky wasps are a menace with the friut.
We don't get them here in Oz fortunately but are plagued by other insects though.
Fruit fly is one that we have to put a lure out for otherwise a whole crop can be ruined
over night……….Good luck with your jelly making.
Jocelia……...
That wasp will be soon as drunk as a monkey on that fermented apple juice or as drunk as our good friend Adrian Herbert Osmant when he staggers out of the ciderhouses of Bedminster after an afternoon on the alcoholic apple juice!![]()
