Thank you all for your continued support through all your comments and votes, I think the texture had a few more votes, today a Male Chaffinch taken up at Geoffrey Bakers Hide, many thanks Geoff. Not sure but it seems to have a growth on his foot.
He is beautiful.
An excellent bird image, good catch light and perfect background.
He does look well fed all right, Trev, and a delightful shot of him you've captured.
Excellent pose and detail captured Trev, super image,
Nice one Trev.
It seems to be a common problem with Chaffinches although I thought they were all clear now, I haven't noticed it on the ones that visit here for ages.
You have such a great eye. This is perfect.
Beautiful sharp image of a little bird, now thats skill!

Yes it has got a growth, but it look's well fed .
This is BRILLIANT
Shame for him with that foot though it doesn't seem to worry him.
Super close up, Trev.
Many finches and small birds suffer from this foot problem.
Years ago when my father and I bred Canaries we experienced the problem too.
Well fed and well captured. Superb detail and clarity as always my friend.
Great image. Lovely angle.
Bumble foot or club foot caused by parasites. Fine plumage detail, Trev.

Makes me feel better - he's got a bigger belly than me! But a shame about his poorly foot A super detailed capture, Trev
Beautiful detail, colour and pose Trev; excellent capture!
lovely detailed capture
we have a chaffinch that comes daily looks like it has a bandage on his/her leg seemingly its quite common with chaffinches and it can restrict their flying cababilities so ive been told ..
Great shot - think its club foot Trev!
Awwww its lovely Trev
It could be scaley foot, though totally unsure, budgies can get this on cere and feet and its a fungus type disease
Commonly known as Bumble foot
Yes, sad that he has bumble foot...a lot of Chaffinches have
a very well captured shot
Superb portrait! He is just beautiful!
A very nice photo Trev, thumbs up mate well taken, like it, regards Leon.

If you’ve ever dealt with high-contrast lighting - a landscape under direct sunlight or a brightly-lit screne shot from inside a darkened room - you’ll appreciate what Active D-Lighting has to offer!
If you have the camera on a tripod during live view, you can zoom in on your subject in the monitor for precise focus.
For subjects that are in motion, choose Dynamic-area AF.
If your subject is poorly lit, shutter speed will slow and pictures may be blurred. You can choose a high ISO sensitivity for faster shutter speeds and sharper images.
This option controls how autofocus adjusts to sudden large changes in the distance to the subject during continuous-servo AF.
