Thank you all for your continued support through all your comments and votes, I think the texture had a few more votes, today a Male Chaffinch taken up at Geoffrey Bakers Hide, many thanks Geoff. Not sure but it seems to have a growth on his foot.

Nice one Trev.
It seems to be a common problem with Chaffinches although I thought they were all clear now, I haven't noticed it on the ones that visit here for ages.

Super close up, Trev.
Many finches and small birds suffer from this foot problem.
Years ago when my father and I bred Canaries we experienced the problem too.

lovely detailed capture

we have a chaffinch that comes daily looks like it has a bandage on his/her leg seemingly its quite common with chaffinches and it can restrict their flying cababilities so ive been told ..
