A cute image, nice and sharp, and the colours are great. I think it works ok, but with children you can get away with so much more than with adults. For instance, this pose with an adult would give a horrible double chin and distort their face, but with this girl, it's fine.

I might crop slightly closer from the left and lose the empty space, and the necklace looks a little untidy, but these are minor niggles, and I am sure the family are pleased with it.

She's a little charmer for sure and her face, hair and headband have come out very well.

I would crop a bit off the bottom just above the red and green bead so just the top of her shoulder is showing. The necklace and dress make the shot a bit busy at the bottom when the focus should be on her face.

I would also crop a little from the left hand side, possibly in proportion to the bottom crop or up from the edge of her dress. There is some harsh light - is it a window? - coming from behind which has made the bottom of her hair on the left go a funny green colour - chromatic abberation. Harsh light coming from the back is best avoided. Side lighting might be better or slightly to the front. Harsh light will cast strong shadows which you might be able to avoid by net curtains, or sticking tracing paper on the window.

It's a bit difficult to start turning the house upside down at a birthday party though and I agree with Nick that the parents will love it.

Best wishes

Catherine

Emma, I find this one overly saturated, and fairly red.

The pose is nice, though Ive tried to show two different versions.

I would try to get rid of the bright areas on the left, work on the skin tone

Take a look at the mods, hope they are helpful.

Regards

Willie

Thanks everyone,

I will work on the saturation. And re-crop.

The harsh light is actually the Sun! Its summer here Grin This was a candid taken at a birthday party and we were outside on a covered deck area. Ideally would have liked more space on the RHS but there was another child next to her!

Thanks again for all your help.

OK ... so I'm having some issues with colour. What I see in photo shop is different. Have I done something wrong in the upload?

I don't see a saturation problem - the little girl looks ginger - the colours are correct I would think. The only problem are a couple of over bright areas top right and bottom left - crop a little tighter and it's great.

Agreed, I thought the light was very endearing with a definite summer feel.
