Another one from the stud shoot. This is Pro-Set, a dressage stallion competed by Carl Hester. He was a sod to stand still for this shot, the handlers had to bring his 'wife' round to calm him down a bit!

Digitally removed the handler, reins and a wall mounted flower box from the wall. The shot will hopefully be used for his stud card.

Another fine horse study. The head is not in the most flattering position and the shadow dose not help.

But very good.

Strange you say that, Paul. I'm reliably informed that the head is where they want it for stud card shots...especially for dressage stallions. It took about twenty minutes to get him relaxed enough to lower his head...before that all the shots were giraffe-like!

It's better that the other shot you posted, the b/g is a lot less cluttered which in turn keeps your attention on the horse.

There's a french photographer that's famous for taking pictures of the land from helicopters, not sure of his name, but his other passion was horses.
They used canvas sheets as the b/gs to photograph the horses against, with no other distractions to catch the eye, all the attention is on the horse.

Why can you not have the handler in shot? surely it must be quicker to get the horse calm and the shot taken.

I'm not sure what the criteria is for a stud card, so I could be taking crap..Lol.

Thanks for the comments Tony, that's really interesting.

RE: handler in shot...the handler WAS in shot but I have cloned him out digitally as the stud card is representing the stallion only. It's like having a CV shot, you just want the applicant. Smile

Thanks for all the comments everyone, much appreciated.
