This was a plant for the garden from the local supermarket, cost 1.99 and well worth it for the photo opps it gave me! Jane
Fantastic comp,exposure and detail
lovely image and good composition. click
stunning,love the colours and composition.
Wow that is Shape.
great work well done.
The delicate colouring is wonderful - the flower is beautiful, but the shot really makes it!
Very nicely presented. neil
This is stunning Jane. I actually saw one of these yesterday at the local agricultural fair. As usual I went for gerbera's lol.
What a great find, beautiful flower wonderfully captured.
Lovely shot! Paul.
Great image and I love your title!
They're unusual flowers - what are they?
edit: I'd be really interested to know what you've done here. I'm assuming it's been quite heavily photoshopped. Would you mind sharing how you did it? I would also love to see the original shot too, to get a comparison.
Another classic - great effect
Mel, its a form of Osteospurnum (I think that's how you spell it? It's basicallly a posh daisy!) It hasn't actually been heavily photoshopped just used curves to lighten the background but I can show you the original if you want. I've got windows alongside one wall of my kitchen and use natural light and 3 pieces of white card. Jane
This is beautiful - so sharp in detail and the delicate colours work well against the white background.
When I take pics against a white card, they always seem to look like they've been taken against a white card. How did you avoid having any shadows etc?
Almost correct, Jane - it's osteospermum, according to the RHS plant finder.
And it's a lovely flower indeed. This kind has lovely spoon-like petal tips, which I like a lot.
And the way you've captured it, is absolutely fabulous. I like the angle, the flower coming in from the left, the negative space on the right. Excellent!
Thanks for looking that up for me Conrad and 'jthor', the trick is not to take photos in bright sunlight as it does cause shadows, use a more muted light and overexpose by +0.3 or 0.7 Jane
This is superb Jane. I dont know what sort of flower it is but I love the delicate colours. You have captured it perfectly.
Beautiful shot! Lovely work Jane!
stunning jane, well done

Very nice Jane.
One of the best shots of this type of flower (not even gonna try and spell it) that I've seen. Very good idea, helps isolate the petals which are the beauty of this flower.
A stunning image. Reminds me of those painted illustrations in old-fashioned books on plants. Very delicately handled. Click.

you have very nice collection of flower's pictures in your portfolio, it was a pleasure to visit,
I think I must have missed this the first time round. Absolutely brilliant!
Just some questions after having Malcolm to comment on one of my osteospermum shots.
Is this a cropped or uncropped version? Where did you focus at? What is the aperture you used?
you must be bored of more feedback, but this is simply superb, the subtle tones of the flower, the sharpness of the centre, and the composition makes this something which is very very special.
Thanks 'Afyfe' trust me I never get bored of feedback! ) jane
You know, I've just realised that I never have clicked on this picture - not that you need any more
Your elegance in making pictures from photos is present here...just simply beautiful...Congrats!
Wow, the simplicity of this flower is just lovely. Love the colors and lighting is beautiful...
Absolutely stunning, looks just like a botanical drawing with perfect shape and colouring. Well worth all of the awards....
Brilliant - not much else to say really. The awards speak for themselves, not bad for 1.99!! . Andy
