pre-title - My 500D 100% PS
for too long i have let my passion for photography overshadow my underlying passion for art. it was 2008 when i did my previous artwork of a 1Ds mk III drawn entirely 100% in photoshop.
a week ago i set myself the challenge to create a new version but this time of my 500D. has been an intensely hard challenge but a great one to take on, extreme fun to do and i have learned new things too while bringing it all together.
appreciate and comments ![]()

this is so cool. my hat's off to you. i've been staring at this thing since you sent over the sneak preview. i just love it, peter. =)
I remember the previous upload but I don't think you included the battery grip in that one. Amazing work, but you really should get out more... ![]()

i have looked forward to this point in the process all week but been strong minded to remain focussed on concentrating on creating and wait till the post stage to sit back. now i shall go out of my house for a week and not return until i have done a lot of things outside ![]()
I would not have clue of where to start a project like this, well done for coming up with the idea & putting into practice I take my hat of to you

i don't understand it...there are dreadful images on here where people abuse things like the frac filter or using stock images resulting in the most god-awful stuff i've ever seen in my life and they get tons of attention - yet, something artistic and time-consuming like this goes under-appreciated. as photographers, with most of us using one editing program or another, i would think most people would find this interesting or, at the very least, be curious as to how you did this. especially considering that you didn't draw a flower or a naked woman - you drew the very thing we are all obssessed with - the camera. sigh...
i completely agree c, seems the modern day age just no longer appreciates anything that took time, effort and heart. if it isn't flat pack instant built in a minute than the attention span of most simply can't cope. this has around 200 layers and 60+ channels but what it doesn't have is a gaussianed to death flower wrapped round a toned young lass with pert breasts and a naughty smile. i hope the epz of old from 2+ years ago returns sometime when it was the great place of high respect and breath taking quality rather than the tabloid gutter press tits loving sneering empty shell it is now. continuously presses on about being the greatest photography site on the internet, well start showing the evidence epz because you arn't being at ll convincing yet if you don't even commend an artwork of a camera :|
I think Peter, that the 'lack of attention' problem is that it looks almost like a stock/promo image of the camera in the thumbnail, leaving most viewers to think that you've just photographed your camera. I didn't read the title as literally as it actually is, and it was only when I read further in your description that I realised exactly what you had accomplished.
That said, I can't think of a better title ![]()
i had an image of the front view that i got from the canon site then used it as a loose guide but more just to sketch the basic outline and then blocked in and worked on the details in my own way partly so i could scale the image up to a larger size. toning all the lighting from the shadows, highlights and midtones was my own choice and the lens was a mix of reference to my sigma lens and the kit lens in the base image. i started counting earlier how many layers and when i got to 200 i gave up lol ![]()
Quote: I take my cyber hat off to you then , Your attention to detail , shading and lighting is supreme.
Photorealism at its best

Techniques like this leave me speechless Peter...
'Excellent' doesn't really cover it.
