Another shot of the fab wee Alix - my friend Gem's 13 year old sister. I could take pics of her all day long. For this I dragged her into an abandoned cottage (proceeded to put my foot through a floorboard and bruise everywhere but kept Alix in the safe bits) She's wearing an old nighty - was going for a darker theme this time. It was rather dark so had to crank the iso up but I like the grain here. As always your advice most welcome, thanks for looking, Rachel

I live in the South of UK near to sea which is nice. I am really developing a love of night photography but mostly to get all the work done in camera. I shoot mostly at night because I 'see' better in the dark But in the day I work with people who tell me their...

The lighting in this is great - just natural light? Great portrait.

Yes just natural light - the ruin has no roof - only some beams but is heavily covered in foliage, and was pretty dark so had to up the iso to 500. Thought a flash would be too harsh, and don't have a reflector. Should really get one... Thanks for the comments everyone - am so glad it's liked *

I've really got into photography since October 2004 when I bought a Canon 300d and joined a camera club. I love the freedom that digital allows, because its easier to experiment I have learnt much quicker. As I'm still learning I am taking pictures of a wide variety o...

Love the shot and the effect you are after.

You have most light on the face already, but I would be tempted to add a dark vignette so that there is more emphasis on it.
I would also darken the toenails and thumbnail ....... they look a bit too bright and manicured for the surroundings
