A wild Fox (Vulpes vulpes), with its rabbit prey in the field behind our house. Handheld, as I just had time to open a small window and push the lens out, before he was gone. This is a large crop as my subject was 156m away.

My thanks to those of you who supported my last upload - always really appreciated Smile

Gosh you have a steady pair of hands. This is one of the best nature images I have seen recently. Pin sharp on the subject despite the distance and heavy crop. Bravo.

Fantastic shot - especially considering distance / cropping & handheld. I too once had a chance encounter and didn't end up with anything approaching this. I am in awe!! Superb!! Grin

A nice result considering the distance Sylvia,
Looks like even at that distance you were noticed.

I like this one Sylvia. I do not think photography is always about full-frame, razor sharp images with the colour balance perfect. Sometimes it is about capturing the moment, or telling a story and you have done this beautifully. Some of the greatest historic photos are not perfect.

Rant over

David

Beautiful shot, love the way he/she is looking at you

That is exactly what happened, Sandy. When I saw her from the kitchen window(non opening),he/she was lying in the middle of the field devouring the prey, so I ran to an adjacent room, opened a top opening tiny window and pushed the lens out, whereupon he/ she turned tail and ran, but stopped for a brief moment to look at me before disappearing through the hedge, so I got lucky Smile

Fuchs du hast den Has gestohlen,
Gib ihn wieder her.
Gib ihn wieder her.
Sonst wird dich der Jaeger holen,
Mit dem Schiessgewehr.

Do you know the children's song?
Lovely picture of this beautiful animal, and the prey is a fantastic extra.
Really great image. Love it.

If the lens is the same one that i have it has optical stabilisation which means that you no longer have to lug a heavy tripod about, you do need strong shoulder muscles though as this lens is rather heavy to carry!Wink
