During our visit to Myanmar (Burma) we visited one or two Temples! ![]()
This is the Mahamuni Paya in Mandalay – primarily famous for housing what many Burmese believe to be one of only 5 Buddha statues created in his lifetime. It is a splendidly gilded temple, as are most of the larger temples, and I tried to show the richness of the decor in this image. The guy criss-crossing the corridor is using a traditional broom with a more modern version of the dustpan
.
(Images of various Buddha statues to come at a later date).
Many thanks for your generosity in responses to this series, so very much appreciated.
Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve/Hogmanay celebration,
Dave

Quote: What wonderful reflections in that shiny corridor, Dave, what is the floor, tiles/stone/wood? Carol
Tiles, Carol, and very very slippy when wet, especially as you have to be in bare feet whilst within the temple precincts.
We are on the same theme with reflections! Lovely image with nice movement caught in the broom.
Superb reflection with an almost liquid quality that suffuses the darker tones. The white and pale yellow area comes as a bit of a visual surprise and forms the ideal backdrop to the man. Excellent composition, the exposure perfectly timed to show the swish of the broom. A beaut.
Regards
Bill
Strong but muted colours. The cleaner steals the scene. Well spotted
Bill got to this one ahead of me... Absolutely beautiful - the composition, the timing. It would be a lovely image without the man but he brings it to life. And the hint of motion blur contrasts perfectly with the cool precision of the architecture.
Moira
It looks so clean no wonder the reflections are fantastic.
Well done Dave. WesternRed.
That reflective flooring is help to throw light around and bring up detail in the heavily shadowed areas, but I bet exposure was less than easy to get right.
But get it right you have, Dave.
This is a fascinating series and I look forward to more from this land in the New Year.
And with my very best wishes to you for 2013.
Ronnie.
That looks a very highly polished floor, offering super reflections
A fine capture, Dave ![]()
A Very Happy New Year to you too! ![]()
All the best,
Trev ![]()
Great timing to catch the human element in a very formal (though bling-tastic) symmetrical architectural comp. The exposure is very well managed and this is undoubtably another stand-out travel image Dave. Happy Hogmanay to you too my friend, and all the best for 2013!
A masterpiece, Dave. Nicely composed and the presence of the figure at appropriate place enhances the aura of the place. Deep
This is top draw the detail held is amazing Dave all the best for2013
