During our visit to Myanmar (Burma) we visited one or two Temples!
This is the Mahamuni Paya in Mandalay – primarily famous for housing what many Burmese believe to be one of only 5 Buddha statues created in his lifetime. It is a splendidly gilded temple, as are most of the larger temples, and I tried to show the richness of the decor in this image. The guy criss-crossing the corridor is using a traditional broom with a more modern version of the dustpan .
(Images of various Buddha statues to come at a later date).
Many thanks for your generosity in responses to this series, so very much appreciated.
Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve/Hogmanay celebration,
