Not sure which Hawkmoth caterpillar this is, the colouring suggests Oak or Eyed. It was on our apple tree which I believe is a favourite of Eyed but that pale colour looks like Oak. I was slightly thrown by the little horn on its head as my little book does not mention it and other images do not show it either. I am probably completely wrong but never mind!

Superb detail, Carole. The spots on its side seem to float off my screen.

A superb detailed shot of this little master of disguise. You have sharp eyes, Carole, to have seen it.

Maybe it's eating another species of caterpillar, I'm probably wrong but it looks like it's enjoying eating something..............then again.........![]()

Very well spotted, Carole - it almost looks like a leaf, making itself camouflaged! A lovely quality close-up ![]()

It's a fine capture of what I think is the Eyed Hawk Moth Caterpillar, Carole, but that bit on its mouth has me bemused. I've done some googling but have failed to come up with an answer.
what a pretty caterpillar, looks like it is covered in small pearls.
Marvellous detail and clarity in this caterpillar close up
