After being let down horribly by the model yesterday, Susie stepped up to the plate to fill in on a really important shoot. We had the bods from Hasselblad up with us yesterday, watching us on the current book commission which they've endorsed, so lots of added pressure!

Anyway, we had an idea for a shot that is really easy to set up, and really effective. We're fortunate enough to have a large enough studio to build sets in, but the beauty of this shot is that you can recreate it with ordinary patio doors on a bright day, or with lighting.

The set up - assuming this is an ordinary room, we hung a white sheet the full width of the doorway - about four foot beyond the threshold, and lit it from behind with three Elemental Trinity Pro Strobes. The overall effect was an evenly lit sheet, metered at F16 at the point of incident with the door frame.

We used a large wind machine at low power, as the shot would look too "still" without the movement in the curtains, hair and nets.

We then set the camera up at F8.5, effectively over exposing by 1.5 stops.

This works well as a silhouette. It shows the girl's figure without detail and the white background sets it off beautifully. Andy

Cheers guys. I am delighted that this has been so well received. The whole shoot was almost a write off due to various issues, but I'll save that story for another occasion.
