Loch Pityoulish. I like the old tree stump and the cloud arrangement reminded me of a chimmney producing psychadelic smoke! I popped the stump with hand held flash 4 times during the exposure to bring out the detail in it.

The central placing of both stump and main cloud band seems to work well in this portrait format shot, Alan.
Despite that warmth in the cloud, the image just oozes cooooooool, and I guess it was pretty cold at the time.
The long exposure has smoothed the water giving a quite ethereal and mystical effect.
Ronnie.
chimmney producing psychadelic smoke..... pass the spliff, Al ![]()

The camera looks good in low light, lovely warm tones. Just a bit too dark still on the stump for me but I do like the smoothness on the clouds.

Thanks Dave and Joline! ![]()

Ha ha, I should have known any 60's reference would have started you reminiscing about your teenage years Dave!
Thanks for your comments on the stump, I could brighten it up in post processing, my flashgun batteries were running low so the recharge time was about 15sec limiting how much light I could add. A useful lesson for my next low light shoot! I like the output from the 5d mk ii as well ![]()
Good colour and I like the toning of the water. On my monitor the stump still looks a little dark, but that might be due to the quality of my work issue display.
I think I would have liked to see the shadow isolated within the boundary of the water or at least the image. At the moment it tends to run the eye out of the frame rather than lead it in. A small criticism but still a very nice image Alan.
I never tire of such beautiful 'chiffonesque' images like this...
Wonderful work!

I did try my head torch but it's no halogen beast and was pitifully weak in the ambient lighting! I'll keep experimenting with how much flash to add I think. ![]()
