This is a marble sculpture/bust that I saw on a recent visit to Clevedon Court. It was carved entirely out of marble, and yet looked for all the world as though it were covered in a fine veil.

It was truly a thing of beauty...

If you hadn't of said I'd have thought it was covered in a veil - quite remarkable! Well taken Dave and I like the shadows/patterns from the lead windows too.

I honestly thought it was covered by a veil and wondered why. Caught in great light.

Great piece of sculpture - well shot against the back light Dave.

Thanks for all the kind words you've left here, I really think it's one of those pieces of sculpture that you have to see to truly appreciate how wonderful the work is. I've tried to bring that sense in the image, but it only gives a broad idea of the quality of the workmanship. I relly appreciate all the positive feedback though, cheers all... Dave
