Thank you to everyone that commented and voted on yesterday’s upload – really didn’t expect it to do that well!

Back to the Isles of Scilly for today’s offering; this was taken after a heavy downpour (see clouds left) where I sat with a carrier bag over the camera waiting for a break of good weather, it came and I shot!

This whole day was basically an experiment to see if could get any mood/drama from a daytime shot without relying on a mono conversion or heavy PS work.

I have had to rely on strong composition (hopefully) and the use of a polariser and ND grad to get the most out of the colour and movement in the sky and water.

For those of you die hard sunrise/sunset brigade (yeah like I can talk Smile) it is worth a try once in a while, as it really makes you think when you haven’t got fantastic colour to fall back on.

As it was an experiment I have asked for my first Pro technique - hope they don't tear it apart! Smile

What ever you’re doing – have a cracking Bank Holiday weekend!

Rgds
Paul

If they do pull it apart, it won't be for the colour and textures! You've really got those going on.
It's always good to challenge those rules, but you do get a very different style of shot which can demand a different type of processing.
I think you have done a super job on this but I would be tempted to crop in from the right a little.

A middle of the day shot, Paul?? Unusual for you, methinks, but superbly executed as always.
The composition is excellent - I've not mentioned technique, since you've got that pretty well nailed!
All the best,
Bill
