A male adonis blue butterfly nectaring on a carline thistle at Swelshill Bank near Stroud, taken over the August Bank Holiday weekend when we had a brief taste of summer, albeit for just one day! Many thanks for all your c&c's on yesterdays comma, I'm off to North Somerset in a short while to catch up with Bristol's Premier Wildlife Photographer, epzer AdeOsman to catch the fallow and red deer rut and hopefully some autumn colours.

Had a quick run-out to the meadow earlier this morning, and despite two days of Force 7 gales here, the butterflies have returned, and much to my delight I spotted painted lady's and small coppers. Carol
