Decided to delete this and upload again for critiquing. I removed a few spots, but kept the 'red' for effect. I think it makes the photo. This was taken late afternoon at sunset with sun behind the tree to illuminate the web.

* What appears to be a web thread in the top right corner is indeed the top of the thicker tree branch. If you look very carefully you will see the red splash is ON the branch, that will help you define the branch Smile

Superb light effect in this one Helen and I do like the colours including that red, it is not intrusive. If anything, I think I might have been tempted to remove the tiny web across the top right hand corner. Carole

Apologies Antoinette, I called you Helen (I was concentrating on my misbehaving keyboard) so sorry. Carole

Hi Carole, its Antoinette not Helen...lol. I see what you mean with the little web. I thought it was the underside of the tree branch, but it is indeed a web.

Warm regards
Antoinette

Thats ok Carole...lol. Actually the tree branch is the part where the red is. So the tiny web is the top of the branch Smile

At first glance it all looks confusing ?.....but the more you look, the more you see ?.....& I eventually realised how the image is 'constructed' !

Love the sharp concentration on the web, & the tilted view adds another dimension !.....the lens flare providing that final 'flourish' of mystery & colour !

I find it all works very well....initially intriguing, but finally quite beautiful.....& I love it !!!!!!!!

The dark background is perfect, Antoinette, and I can imasgine someone producing something like this in a manipulation, but you have captured it "as is" and very nice it is, too. I like the crossing of the diagonal lines, he golden glow and the touch of red to lift the whole image. If this had been a circular web, it would have been spectacular, but you'd have lost the drama of the background amongst the threads. It has simplicity and depth, and I see it as a beautiful natural abstract made by the creative use of light. I think the top right corner needs to be clear, but am not sure how difficult it would be to clone out that bit of web/light.
Pamela.

. . . not difficult at all.

I've uploaded a mod. but I won't contribute anything else to this as I think that everthing's been said already.

A really good job, well done.

Bren.

I really appreciate you comments and compliments guys! Considering this was an accident I am lucky and surprised. That isnt a web at the top its the thicker tree branch. I know this because it is in my backyard...lol.

I also cannot add to what has already been said, Antionette: excellent use of light on the subject matter to produce an abstract type of image. The Mod. already offered has removed the leaf edge, and I could not better that.
