An observation taken in the narrow side streets of Venice. This elderly person making her way.
Classic. And beautifully composed. The use of portrait gives a sense of distance - she seems to be walking into the past.
The daily walk to the local shop for bread and milk that older people do to this day, it's almost a ritual. Love the regular patter of the flagstones and the monochrome film look of yesterday. Agfa was one of the great european chemical companies, they made great papers as well as film, I recall Brovira paper which had the most amazing soft tones and creamy finish which was wonderful to work with.
Very well composed and presented the processing and mono conversion works very very well.
Excellent composition and mood
Quote: Excellent composition and mood
A group of us are going there next month, so this could be me!
The composition, the tones and the light combine to make a superb image!
Love the lines of the flagstones to the distance, & the graininess the film & processing has produced. Excellent.
Like your timing and good moody tones in this good mono image Ron
Full of meaning
Powerful mono image Ronnie, and love the graininess film here.
Tells a story. I love everything about this image, it's a real classic. Congratulations.
Like the treatment you have applied here Ron, for me it screams out Monochrome...........................Joe
Ron, this is a beautiful piece of photojournalism. I have been sitting here looking at this and it fills me with emotion.
The softness of the image also appeals to me. There is often talk of things being too soft, but it suits here. A classic film exposure, and I do so miss the look of black and white film. Probably shows in some of my more recent uploads.
The composition is superb, the stooped over woman speaks to all of us I think, of age, and also here of loneliness.
Oh to get old and not walk so well, so sad. An excellent image with much emotion..........Sandy
I never noticed such lovely paving stones when we were in Venice, but the backstreets are so interesting. The figure is just right.
Bravo! Nice composition, execution and theme.
A fine image Ron
A Lovely gritty Image Ron
Quality photography Ron. Great use of the light on the flagstones.
Fabulous photography Ron, a classic!
Well observed, the b/w version, as well as the deteriorated housefronts in addition with the grittiness of the image make a very fine image.
You are so right. Photos can move you, they can stay in your mind. This is one of those I will remember.
