The Alhambra was probably built as protection against marauders, so has a violent history of its own.

You're right Ron, if only we also remembered that during our dark ages, after the fall of the Roman Empire, Islam kept science alive and expanded it. Without Islamic scholars much of ancient Greek/Roman knowledge would have been lost.
