Model is my best friend Kao.

We shot this a while ago, it was an idea I had in my head but when we were shooting it I just couldn't see the shots coming together.
Yesterday I uploaded the photos to my computer and thought I'd have a look.
Each shot was concerted to black and white and contrast added, to give that grainy film look, then they were pieced together.

All the shots feature aspects of Kao that he deems important, his hands, for guitaring, his crow tattoo inspired by the sentiment in the film The Crow, his Slipknot tattoos in the 'eight' on his forearm, and finally his face, particularily his beard which he takes a lot of care for.

I put them together to create disjointed and unusual lines, the fingers from the hand are missing and appear in the opposite piece, and the two profiles show different parts of the face.

The piece is an assessment of how you see yourself, and what makes you individual.

Nice edgy feel. I can see this working very well as a large print hung in a loft/studio space or similar.
It took me a long time to figure out what the top left part was a view of.
