Here's something a bit different from my usual fayre. Partly because I've not been able to get out anywhere much lately but mostly because I really enjoyed the opportunity to shoot something a bit out of the ordinary at the weekend.
I went to see Hawkwind at the O2 Academy in Leeds on Saturday, as Steve (guitarist with the support band Krankschaft) had kindly offered to put me on the guest list. So in return, I offered to do some shots of his band. When I sorted out the press pass, it entitled me to shoot both bands. Anyone who has known me for any period of time will well know that I'm a complete Hawkwind nut, so the chance to shoot them on stage was just too good to pass over!
Here is Hawkwind's bass player Mr Dibs, pumping his way through the opening number, Angels of Death. Hawkwind's stage show is still as spectacular as ever and for a band that is celebrating it's 40th year, still have the vitality and energy to teach those young pups a thing or two! Not so much a band as an institution.
I realise this will probably bomb, as it's not the usual kind of shot I post here - but I care not a jot, as I had a blast!
Many thanks for all of your comments and clicks. Always very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Andy

Quote: I think I still have one of their albums up in the loft!
My old LPs are in the shed!
Quote: I thought you were far too young to be a Hawkwind fan
Must be my youthful looks Gill!!! I wasn't old enough to catch them in their glory days - but got into them around 1980 when they released Levitation.
