Still at the top of Whitby’s old stone lighthouse, this was taken looking straight down the side of the lighthouse, and quite liked the abstract affect. The railings around the top are spaced apart just enough to poke the camera lens through, but not the whole camera. As the railings are around 6 feet high, it was a case of holding the camera over the top of the railings, pointing it downwards and hoping for the best! I would have liked to have captured someone walking across the open area, but as can be seen in my previous upload, Whitby Panorama, there were very few people on the pier. Just typical, when you don't want people in your shots, they get in the way, when you do, there's none about!

Looks a little better seen large if you have the time.

1/60 sec, F11, 18mm, ISO 100
Single Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Elements 6, with some assistance from Topaz Adjust.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

In the thumbnail I honestly thought this was a cross-section of a log, and the coloured bits puzzled me... Great view, and a very refreshing change from the norm.

I happened to think the very same as Moira......and as she says, a very different kind of shot but all the more refreshing for that. Nice to get a shot now and then that is quite novel as you have done here, Trev.

It does make a great abstract with human interest.....if that makes sense?! I know what you mean, there's always a body when you don't want one! Super capture, especially as you weren't able to look through the viewfinder!
