A picture I took of the moon last night (Apr 2010) using my 5d Mk II and a 70-300mm Lens. Little bit of ice in the atmosphere causing a light halo but not too bad for a short lens and heavy crop. It's such a fascinating lump of rock, and is ingrained into our history.
Definitely best viewed LARGE!!

I just stuck to the basics; tripod, low iso, timed shutter, medium high aperture, shutter speed adjusted to create the right exposure and manual white balance eye judged.
1/20, f/18 and ISO 100.
Of course it helps shooting with 21mp for cropping...
