This is the ruin of Ardvreck Castle on the shore of Loch Assynt, Sutherland.

I had camped overnight ever hopeful of an interesting sunrise. I awoke to very low cloud but a shaft of light broke through for a few minutes but disappeared before reaching the castle. Shortly afterwards the rain reached me!

Many thanks to those who commented and voted on my previous upload "Glen Brittle Heather".

Shame it didn't reach the castle but it sculpts the land so well. Lovely image, Cliff.

I love this raking sunlight revealing the contours of the hillside.
The mist and shade makes this an image of two halves and a very good one at that.

Great lighting and nice lateral placement of the castle, I'd be tempted to lose more of the FG sea to place the land closer to the bottom of the frame.

This is gorgeous Cliff - we've been puzzling over where you were when you took this and it seems you were on the opposite side of the loch from the road and, if so, presumably you made the long walk to this spot?

Ann, thank you very much for your User Award which is much appreciated.
I was on the same side of the loch as the castle, on a small spit of land just south of the ruin of Calda House.

Ah, yes, that makes sense now. It's just that you can't see the run of the bay round to Ardvrek. Thanks Cliff!
