A closer view of the castle with some of the many drowned branches that fell in the winter storms this year. As Kel pointed out yesterday, people will not know much about this castle though in truth it's not all that exciting Wink Here's a link for those interested: http://www.stravaiging.com/history/castle/loch-an-eilein-castle
Gaelic is known as a poetic language but it can be banal too: Loch an Eilien translates as “Loch of the Island”...! Grin

Still with that lovely light and reflections, Al (did you notice the pun Grin). The dead branch gives a good base to the frame, but bordering on the messy down there. Smile

The Castle remains on it's island situation, surrounded by the lush greens, stands out so well from the backdrop of winter colours: the downed branches fill the dead space and provide f/g interest.
Excellent reflections too in the mirror flat calm.
Must try and get up to your neck of the woods one day, encouraged by all your images from there.
Ronnie.

Another quality shot Al . Spot on exposure control and love the composition, there are some strong lines in the fg detail which lead you out to the castle and the light ,low cloud and colours in the trees are beautiful .Love it Smile

A stunning image with beautiful reflections, Al!
I'm not sure about the branches in the foreground, though.
Did you take one without them?
I know about the rule of thirds and all that but I'd like to see a 50/50 split with the reflection and a clear foreground; you'd still get the vertical thirds, I reckon.
Regards,
Richard

This is a really beautiful image Alan. Well composed with a serene atmosphere. The light is soft and subtle and the colour very natural. You really feel as if you are there or would like to be.
