A rare close encounter to this beautiful Bird of prey the Short eared owl.
In the few years I have been taking pictures of these raptors I have never been so close.
Some facts on this Bird.
Short-eared owls are medium sized owls with mottled brown bodies, pale under-wings and yellow eyes. They are commonly seen hunting during the day. In winter, there is an influx of continental birds (from Scandinavia, Russia, Iceland) to northern, eastern, and parts of central southern England, especially around the coast. They are of European conservation concern and so are an Amber List species.

Oh by the way Alun and Tomcat, This lens has always impressed me from the start when I brought it last year and when adding the 2x to it impressed me further.
I feel Sigma has really pulled it out of the bag on this lens, not sure about the mark i but this mark ii is the dogs proverbial's IMHO.
If anyone asks me what lens would you recommend with out having to take out a mortgage then this would be it, versatile is it's middle name, or it should be, sharp what ever the focal length.
I should work for Sigma lol....
A wonderful capture - excellent quality shot. well done Ian - brilliant!
Thank you all for your comments and votes they are very much appreciated
