I love this picture so much for its atmosphere:in a crowed place the former prisoners had to wait for the officials(presidents, diplomatic bodies etc)which have been 2 hours later. Some ex-prisoners decided to go back home because the temperatures 18-20 under zero couldn't make possible this endless waiting...and finally for who?!So this gentleman gave up waiting and left this place as he came.
It's sad but true.

Things never change, Ovi. The obvious and most important people forgotten about and left waiting in the bitter cold for the self important hobnobs of state to arrive, including those politicians who sat back and did nothing as they watched the genocides in the Balkans and Rwanda.
Very powerful image.
By the way - you were using a Canon AE1 Programme - an old camera from the early 80s - my first SLR.

Yes,John the old cameras are very good still able to offer great final results in competition with digital ones. The only problem is the classical negatives cannot give satisfactory results in pc after scanning in comparison with digital images but I still pay a lot of respect for the classical pritings.
Best regards,
ovi.

Great story and sad that things didn't go as planned for this person. Good composition and mood shown here.
