good first attempt..and presentation..well done.
I think you have done a very good job of it, love the colours and details.
Welcome to EPZ.
Well arranged and natural looking autumn still life. Andy

I know how that feels!
Anyway, about the picture. I think you did quite well with the exposure and the colours. I'm not sure about the composition. I think I would either have liked to have seen a composition that could have happened naturally, or a more organised composition with less to look at. It's a bit busy now. I think there are just too many leaves. Why not try to find a quiet background, put just a few leaves in, and organise the apple and the berries in such a way that they look like they belong there. (More easily said than done, I know...) The subjects deserve it, the colours look so good together.
Hope this helps.
This sort of shot does personify autumn with those lovely russet colours. And you have avoided the temptation to saturate the colours so they all look very natural.
I might have been tempted to do a bit more stage management such as turning the leaves over. Many are showing their undersides which are not so colourful and some are a bit crinkly.
But certainly a good idea.
Thanks for your comments and advice. Virtually brand new to digital photography, or indeed any photography apart from holiday snaps, so your feedback is appreciated.
Hello, Craig, and welcome to EPZ. I like the natural feel of this image. I can imagine the apple having fallen from a tree into the autumnal debris on the ground. You have some strong warm colours, especially the reds, and some nice detail throughout. I feel it would be more natural with the yellow cast removed and some adjustments made, so I have done a modification. I cropped a bit from the right because there wasn't much of interest in that area, but I would have preferred to keep the apple less central, as in your original composition. I lightened the image, adjusted highlights and shadows and cloned some berries into the top left corner where there was a dark space. With a curves adjustment, I felt a more natural look was achieved, and I finished by sharpening it a little and adding a lighter frame. Hope you approve.
PS: Added another mod, just a touch warmer.
