I thought this was Virginia Creeper, but am now unsure, so ID anyone?

Found in someone's garden, I pass this by regularly and have watched its incredible colour changes. I was glad that I captured it on a sunny day, with its leaves shining, because I returned a few days later and they had all fallen.
UPDATE l4/11/07: Parthenocissus tricuspidata, Boston Ivy or Virginia Creeper. A vigorous, self-supporting climber with glorious red autumn colour.

1/34sec @ f5, ISO100, AP, 9.30mm FL.

Thankyou for the advice and suggestions on my clematis framing.

Pamela.

I have one in the garden and it said 'virginia creeper' on the label when I bought it so I think you original ID is correct. Mine also lost its leaves soon after changing colour - and before I could photograph them. As for the photograph you have captured the colours so well against the dark background and the light shows up the textures and patterns of the leaves beautifully. Wonderful photography.

Looks like Virginia creeper to me. We used to have it all over the house. As you say, this colour only lasts a few days then the leaves all fall off over the lawn! Lovely colours & composition.
