Avebury Stone Circle & Avenue dominate the small village of Avebury in Wiltshire.

Actually, two huge stone circles within a prehistoric embankment, with a procession avenue leading to & from West Kennet Long Barrow .

It really is a sight to behold and I challenge anyone to come away & several days later not still be in awe of the place.

If anyone plans to visit, please contact me & I'll make a special trip to meet up..it's wonderful!!

You are right; Avebury is a sight to behold!

It's such a magical and mystic place, surrounded by White Horses and plenty of prehistoric and Neolithic settlements around the area.

Each time I am there I can feel the “Peace” of this ancient stone circle.

There is lots of Pagan, Druid and Wicca activities all year around, from open rituals, ceremonies or shamanic healing drum gatherings. It is always nice to see ancient sites of worship been still used today!

Did you know that the pub there, the “Red Lion” is one of Wiltshire haunted sites?

Outstanding picture my friend!
Always good to see folks been intersted in the old and almost forgotten past of Britain.

With Peace in Stone and Pebble

Hey Tarek....

mate, very cool of you to give your award for this..thankyou!!

My mate & myself went into the Red Lion on Sunday & I read there about it being one of the most haunted sites.
Well, if anywhere is....... !!!

I was originally going to join the L.A.W. folk at Stoenhenge for Imbolc on Sunday, and just stop over at Avebury, but my mate wanted to do a memorial thing for his folks at Avebury, so we went just there instead.

I'll be going to Henge for the Spring Equinox, but avebury again in between Smile

Meet soon.

Mystical. The crop is perfect here, it draws the eye across the circle. Really good.
The stones have a very strong presence. I'm not sure that I would want to be alone with them and the mist, I would feel outnumbered.

I drove through this area this morning and did wonder a little about the mound at long berrow etc; saw the pub you mentioned - so perhaps having had my appetite whetted by your info and photo, I'll perhaps take my camera and stop next time!

Nice atmospheric image!
