An almost straight shot (apart from RAW to black & white) from the Pentax *ist D that I recently had converted to infrared by ACS in Norfolk.

This is of a couple of the stones from the Avebury circle. It was a busy weekend so taking a shot without anyone touching or laying against a stone was virtually impossible. Here a dog walked into view. He cocked his leg to have a pee. I had to shoot as another group were working round to obscure my views.
I like the inclusion of the silhouetted dog, but I edited the raised back leg so it's not looking like it's peeing

the dog makes the image for me as it gives scale to the stones. The level of detail is good and that sky aint 'alf bad either, good IR work too Smile

careful you don't get arrested for photographing dogs without permission.
The style really suits the subject and it gives a 3D feel to the stones

Looks good and the dog addsa little bit of reality to what is otherwise quite a sureal.

Looks like the camera conversion was worth while. Excellent image, outstanding detail and I think you were right to adjust the dog, otherwise the image would have been about the dog and nothing else.
Never been impressed with IR but this could convert me, suits the subject.

Nice shot Pete. I always wanted to try IR one day. I really like the white clouds in the b/g. You've included quite a bit a sky and I think a square crop could work better by giving a more balanced composition.

Thanks all.
Guillaume that's a good point. I left the picture as shot (whole frame) but a crop, not to square, but to remove the top strip of black just above the hoop cloud in the centre would be a better composition.

Looks really good, Pete.

Just wondering - did you ever try if polarisers add any interesting effects or enhancements to pictures taken with an IR-conversion camera?

Yes Conrad, this is with a polarising filter. That reminds me I was going to let you about this question a while ago. It works in the same way, so the blue becomes darker, which is one reason why I have a very dramatic sky on this.

Ah, good, I suspected that might work. I'll remember that - at some point we'll want to have either my wife's 300D or my 20D converted, so this is good to keep in mind.
