I didn't see many birds during our stay in Malta. However, this chipper little Maltese House Sparrow was doing a grand job as lookout on the ramparts of the ancient and well-fortified city of Mdina (the Silent City). 
Many thanks to those of you who commented and advised on my last upload - an initial venture into the wilderness of digital art. Very much appreciated

You could well be right, Steve - I never thought of checking. Found the following link illustrating a Spanish Sparrow. They are apparently slightly larger and heavier than our House Sparrow.
I love the alert pose and stance from the little fella, perhaps he's on the lookout for people carrying guns as the Maltese are well known for shooting small birds!
Love the backdrop sparrows are special little birds and you have caught it spot on love it
