I didn't see many birds during our stay in Malta. However, this chipper little Maltese House Sparrow was doing a grand job as lookout on the ramparts of the ancient and well-fortified city of Mdina (the Silent City). GrinGrin

Many thanks to those of you who commented and advised on my last upload - an initial venture into the wilderness of digital art. Very much appreciated Smile

Excellent shot, the b/g nicely out of focus but enough there to place the shot for you.
Ronnie.

All that way just for a House Sparrow Sylvia...lol
Only kidding.
Nicely detailed and a good blurred out bg with the Sparrow in good positioning in frame

You could well be right, Steve - I never thought of checking. Found the following link illustrating a Spanish Sparrow. They are apparently slightly larger and heavier than our House Sparrow.

I love the alert pose and stance from the little fella, perhaps he's on the lookout for people carrying guns as the Maltese are well known for shooting small birds!
