Hi Ian, I like this shot. Nice light and the composition works for me, my only complaint is that it appears over sharpened which is particularly noticeable in the halo around the over hanging trees. I find that using the unsharp mask at around 50% and rarely above 80% works well.

Hi Ian, yes it brings back memories of my trips out to the Caribbean. I put it into Photoshop and as Trev says, it's over sharpened with the hanging tree's. So I decided to be a little more radical with my mod. I duplicated the background layer, went in layers panel - new layer and painted the over-hanging tree, just leaving a little in the top left hand corner. Painted the left-hand side of the land out, which I think opens the image up. Hope you like it.

i like the shot ad im definately looking forward to retirement soon,

for me i think that you have included too much, im a believer in less is more and i think that turning the camera around and make a shot out of the two deckchairs with the sea behind and then its a real peach,

just crop the top off and you will see what i mean.

love the colour and texture from the light in the sea, its oversharpened though i have to admit.
if you upload using ps save for web, you get a last chance to see the effects of sharpening before uploading, sometimes they need a bit more and sometimes its been overdone. oversharpening seems to becoming one of the cardinal sins at the moment. particularly in exhibitions and club comps

Its a nice postcard type image. Overall. it has a cyan/magenta colour cast (look at the white clouds, theyre not white). It is as above, overly sharp, and with colour balance, adding a slight Gaussian blur at a low opacity to reduce over sharpening, it can look a little better.

regards

Willie
