Awwww this is soooooo sweet!
I would do a crop too, just to make the bird less central, as cats_123 has done.
Everything else is lovelyGrin

Hi Jon, I like the composition, you have the birds head near a thirds intersection. Normally more room in front rather than the rear of the bird would be suggested, however that would mean cropping the perch... so for me your crop is fine.

The image needs lightening to make the chick stand out from the BG.... in my mod I have used Photoshop Elements Adjust Lighting tools to brighten the image, in particular the shadows. Also some sharpening to the eye has been applied.

Hope this helps.

Thanks all, It's been taken on board and I think i'm going to go with Trev on this one just because I don't want to lose the perch..... I do love what you've done too though cats_123 Smile

Nice image. I think you have vignetted and I think you may have over done that a little. I would leave composition as it is, it works.

Black bird and black eye but exposure very close. Might just touch the eye Rea with dodge tool. Not much though.

Its a terrific shot Jon. Nice to see a chick, and one with water drops in such a pose is just great.

How on earth you manged such a detailed shot at such a low shutter speed is beyond me, unless you used a tripod.

I would certainly crop it. That log is nice how it tapers, byt the chick is the subject, and having it further to the right looks better to me.

I have uploaded a mod cropped to a 10 X 8 format, brightened the eye, and added some selective sharpening to the chick. View large.

Hope this helps,

Regards

Willie
