Thank you for viewing the large version

Taken today in Bangkok.
The sport is Ta Kraw, a kind of foot-volleybal, played with 3 against 3, with a small ratan ball. The title doesn't refer to my photography (allthough, with all the bad photos I took today, it could well have been), but to the man's early jump. Too early. you can see the ball popping up from behind his shoe... so he basically jumped too early and went under it.

Anyway, it's one of the very few that came out allright (all limbs in the picture... and the ball as well... and a reasonable composition) of the photos that I tried to take at 70mm and f2.4 to get a blurred bg.
In the mod section I put up the mono version. Tend to like the colour version more, except for the grain (had to up the ISO again as it was quite cloudy again and getting quite late), that looks better for b&w. So difficult to choose.

thanks for viewing, and feel free to critique

Now we're rocking mate! It looks as though your timing was bang on even if his wasn't. Loads of impact here, crazy shapes, a large amount of disbelief that he can land right-side-up and for me the colour works very well. My only nibble would be the telegraph line directly above his foot. That aside this is visually exciting and I really like it. Nice one. Smile

I like both versions, but i have to agree with you that the colour one is a stronger. Great timing, you finaly caught the ball right on impact. Well done.

It's funny, I thought the b/w version would be better but after looking I much prefer this. The timing is bang on and I like how the onlookers help direct attention to the player. Good one.

Think you chose right with colour Koen, and you certainly got in nice and close on this one lol, I'm amazed at the height these guys can get too, great action shot.

Pooch.

I agree with everyone the color one is better the sharpness of focus draws the attention onto the player so to me there are no distractions because of that, very good image, and nicely exposed..

Colour is certainly better Koen as it's easier to distinguish the main character from the background. And technically it's a very good action shot, better than I could do anyways. But it just does'nt do much for me in the way that much of your work does. I look at it but don't feel involved. Not sure if that makes any sense, but I thought I'd chip in my two cents worth anyway. Cheers, dave.

That's what makes it for me. Like the colour too, especially the blue-orange complimentary contrast of his clothes works well..

what a great moment captured!!
for me I'd go for colour on this shot, because i believe it adds to the impact, and this pic is all about impact.

My vote goes for the colour as the foot and balls visibility is greater. Great clarity for such a high moving sport.

Superb capture of the action, the angles and stretch achieved are quite unbelieveble.

Another very good action pic Koen, and another mod. I do enjoy playing with these. Not that there`s anything wrong with them Smile
