Barcelona Nov 08: Lady with Buggy on Plaza Catalunya
Please use the View Large option, thanks.
I actually noticed this impressive door the evening before, and as I was walking past there the following morning, on my way to the old section of the city, I saw this lady wishing to enter this same door, and struggling with her keys.
I was hardly prepared, as coffee was upmost in my mind, and simply grabbed and shot from the hip. I noticed only afterwards that the lens was still set to f16 from the day before.
Luckily the feeble and side-on wintery sun assisted me, as all the images surely would have had motion artifacts otherwise.
I seem to have something about old ladies pulling buggies. I have to admit - have never seen these goodies until I came to live here in the Northern hemisphere, and now I cannot stop noticing them. For me: lady + shopping buggy = potential photo.
Her struggling with the keys was fortunate, as the last frames were at least taken with the horison not at 40 degrees!
The door and the lady entering through the small section are the obvious focal points, however, I thought that the complete setting - full frame this time, and no cropping showed more of what entered my mind that previous evening. A fair amount of D&B was done to the surrounding wall and door in an attempt to create some depth. I would have gone to photograph the door at a later stage anyhow, but having the little lady adding some human component to this was a bonus.
Reminds me of a term that I came across today: Landscape Portraits.
Photographing people with a bit of their surrounds showing - I like that descriptive term.
Otherwise we might have missed old Colonel Sanders keeping check on her arrival time.
Hope that you enjoy this one, Thanks
