I'm not quite sure why but I really like this. I think it is something to do with the 'abstract' feel to it. You say it is a vat of barley, but I was trying to work out what it was before I saw the description. Could be a pile of rocks or a pile of sand. There is nothing in the pic to give a sense of scale other than the depth of field (which suggests something small). Waffling here, but I think what I'm saying is I like it because it isn't obvious what it is!

Thanks! It's really quite obvious in colour, but that's why I like the B&W, which makes the texture the focus.
