Another one from my Lewiston trip. This is one of the building of Bates Mills, a textile and bedspread manufacturer which is now closed. These buildings housed ladies who moved here from Quebec to work in the mill. Lewiston has a rich Franco-American heritage since many of it's residents came from Quebec for employment in the late 1800's.

I like the really strong architectural lines in this, Joline, along with the great patterns created by shadow. A great shot, and always good to have the history.

Agree wholeheartedly with Tom. Was quite familiar with Lewiston in 1990 when I was working at BIW for 6 months and living in a motel at Lisbon, about halfway from Brunswick to Lewiston.

A shot to archive as old builings do fall into disrepair, I should imagine it was a Sweat Shop by todays standards.
