Bharatnatyam, meaning the 'dance of India', is one of the most ancient forms of Indian classical dances. It is of south Indian origin and is performed by female dancers. These dances depict stories from Hindu mythology and are also danced in the medieval South Indian temples and dedicated to the Gods.
