This is a seven portrait shot stitched pano of the Five Sisters of Kintail above Loch Duich. I must admit that i was somewhat preoccupied. I had passed several garages all out of diesel. My quandry was should I leave this spot, miss the light and go and get diesel before garages closed or wait for the light and hope for the best... Free wheeling down to the glen from here was great fun and I must have been driving on fumes alone when I finally managed to fill the tank and relax hoping that I had bagged a shot of these iconic mountains.
Thanks for dropping by.

Thanks Jeremy, Ant, Richard and Kim (big thanks for your UA too, KIm Grin ) Next time, I'll carry a spare gallon of diesel !
I'm not alone then Annette. I'm spoiled for choice living in a city where shortages are a rarity.
Dave - I have never really bothered with this stitching malarky but I'm getting the feel for it now.

You are obviously confident in your brakes as wellas your luck if you freewheeled down that hill from the viewpoint. I take it you made it to the filing station just south of the road end.

A bonnie panorama from this lovely part of Scotland, so many people drive past and don't realise the sight is there to enjoy and capture.

Thanks a lot. I've never really done that much with stitched panos which is a waste really since it costs nothing and produces wonderfully detailed composites.
Big thanks to Ade anf Jeremy (Fazzer) for their UA's.

You've really nailed the height and precipitous nature of the 5 sisters. Lovely light and the snow and cloud add to the drama and scale. Freewheeling down the Mam Rattigan would have been great fun, I've only done it on a bike. When I was a kid we stayed in a caravan at the foot of the nearest peak. We walked the ridge from the other end and could descend straight to our holiday let! Starting from that end means walking up the longest steep gradient in the UK, so I'm told. Great place to visit; I'd love to return for photographic reasons. Smile

Thanks Chris, Ann, Al and Christine. There are two car parks off the road with this view and I may well have been better off on the upper one. I couldn't include much of the loch without including tree tops too.

Exceptional photograph Alun. The best vantage point and portrayal of the Five Sisters I have seen and indeed, one of the best mountain photos of the Highlands. I tried on several ocassions to capture an image similar to this but failed each time to come anywhere close to this and I am somewhat jealous of it..... Wink
I haven't been motivated to take any pictures since I finished photographing for the book but on seeing this, it has rekindled my desire to go out again.

wow...had to scroll a long way down to add this!

Cant agree with JP's sentiment any further, if this image does not inspire any landscape photographer or aspiring LP then they should find something else to pass the time with.

Hope you have got a few more, coz i want to see them.
